How to get BELL OF GRACE Trinket in Mina the Hollower
The Bell of Grace is one of the best defensive trinkets in Mina the Hollower and a top priority in most early-game upgrades checklists. It gives you a chance to keep Spark on death and helps protect your resources by saving half of your bones if you would otherwise lose them. This makes it especially valuable for speedrun routes — fewer bone losses mean less grinding — and it stays just as useful in New Game Plus where tougher enemies make death more likely.
Bell of Grace requirements
Before finishing this trinket pickup, make sure you have:
- 1,000 bones available — farm bone stones around Ossex if you're short
- Access to the area north of the Music Hall — a landmark in western Ossex, near the train station and mirror fast-travel point
- At least one encounter with the red thief NPC (Frayed) who moves around the area
Step 1: Find and hit the red thief NPC
While exploring, you can run into a reddish thief-like NPC. Hit him when you find him. You may meet him several times, and the trinket event may not trigger immediately.
Keep stopping and hitting the thief during these encounters until he eventually gives up and changes form. Instead of simply running away, he will turn into a piece of meat.
Step 2: Go north of the Music Hall
After the thief has transformed, head to the location north of the Music Hall. The Music Hall is a recognizable landmark in western Ossex — you can use the nearby mirror to fast-travel close if you've already activated it. This is where you can continue the event and claim the Bell of Grace.

Step 3: Talk to Fred and pay 1,000 bones
At the northern Music Hall location, interact with the transformed NPC, now called Fred. He asks for 1,000 bones so he can return to human form.
Give Fred the 1,000 bones.
Step 4: Speak to Fred again to receive Bell of Grace
Once Fred has transformed back, interact with him again. He rewards you with the Bell of Grace trinket.
Bell of Grace effect
The Bell of Grace is worth picking up if you want extra safety after death:
- Chance to keep Spark on death
- Helps preserve bones by saving half of them when they would be lost
Why Bell of Grace matters for the long run
This trinket stays relevant through the entire game. Unlike shop-bought trinkets from Panino or the trinket shop in Ossex, Bell of Grace comes from a side quest — no shopping required beyond the 1,000-bone payment.
If you're aiming for the harder endings or tackling areas like Bone Beach and Radiant Manor early, having Bell of Grace equipped can save you thousands of bones over a playthrough. It's also one of the trinkets that carries into New Game Plus, where preserving resources becomes even more important.

That completes the Bell of Grace trinket quest in Mina the Hollower.
